Context

The Big Green is a European project (2023–2027), co-funded by Creative Europe, exploring the intersection of art, science, and natural heritage. The annual theme for 2024–2025 is soil, a vital element for life and ecological balance. Through artistic creation and interpretation, the project highlights soil not only as a resource but also as cultural memory, identity support, and a space for reflecting on our future.Interpreting natural heritage through artWithin Work Package 8 – Interpretation of Natural Heritage: Soil, artists from four countries – Romania, Portugal, Latvia, and Hungary – created works inspired by the richness and fragility of soil. Each artistic residency was designed as a dialogue between scientific research, creative expression, and community experience, emphasizing sustainable methods and materials with minimal environmental impact.
